You ever get so busy and downtrodden in life that you forget to just live and enjoy the moment you are in? That has been me the past several years...always trying to be or do, dealing with frustration after frustration, problem after problem, and never just taking in and enjoying the moment. My husband used an illustration in his sermon this past week about how when your kids are babies you say...boy, I can't wait until they are out of diapers, and then, boy, I can't wait until they can talk, and then, I can't wait until they go to school...etc. etc. Always thinking about the next stage rather than just enjoying them right at the moment they are in...and by doing this, we miss so much. You know what...I'm tired of missing out on so much.
I'm finding the more that I'm thinking about and pursuing the next moment in life...the more I'm discontented and missing out on this moment. Life has literally been passing me by...and there's nothing I can do to turn back time to get what I have missed out on back. I have learned through many hard lessons that I need to enjoy the moment. Psalm 118:24 says, "This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." THIS.IS.THE.DAY...NOT.TOMORROW.
I am here now in Florida for two weeks; time off that I should have taken long ago. And now, I'm going to enjoy every moment of it... the sun, my family, and life in general. I will not let this time pass me by. Today is the day that God has made...and today is the day I will rejoice and be glad in it. As I am allowing Him to help me live life to the fullest in the here and now... I encourage you also to allow Him to help you to learn to enjoy the moment. I assure you that it will be worth every second of your time. God is good!
